摘要:
The Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) is a large-scale international collaborative spectroscopic survey project supported by the U.S. Department of Energy, recognized as a Stage IV dark energy experiment. The project involves upgrading the 4-meter Mayall Telescope at Kitt Peak National Observatory, equipping it with 5,000 robotic fiber positioners to achieve highly efficient observations within a 3.2-degree field of view. Over its five-year mission, DESI aims to collect spectroscopic data from over 40 million celestial objects. Its primary scientific goals are to construct the most detailed three-dimensional map of the universe, precisely chart the history of cosmic accelerated expansion, and study the growth patterns of large-scale structures, thereby unveiling the nature of dark energy. By gathering an order of magnitude more spectroscopic data than previous galaxy redshift surveys, DESI will significantly advance our understanding of dark energy, galaxy formation and evolution, and the structure of the Milky Way. This talk provides an overview of the DESI project, highlights its latest scientific achievements, showcases research progress by the survey team at NAOC based on DESI data, and explores future spectroscopic survey initiatives in China.
