摘要:
Galaxy interactions play a crucial role in galaxy evolution, profoundly affecting gas dynamics, morphology, and star formation. A full understanding of the processes involved in galaxy interactions is crucial for galaxy formation and evolution. Meanwhile, galaxy encounters have been proposed as promising targets for testing gravitational theories, especially those producing >100-kpc tails. Furthermore, observations of molecular clouds formed from the tidal debris of galaxy interactions will aid in our understanding of the transition from atomic to molecular gas and star formation in a broader context, e.g., by offering unique laboratories for studying star formation under extreme conditions. Neutral hydrogen (HI) is a key tracer of these processes, revealing signatures of tidal interactions, gas stripping, and accretion. In this talk, I will present our efforts in these fields by combining single-dish and interferometric HI observations to study the morphologies and kinematics of nearby interacting galaxies.
