Ziteng Wang (王子腾) is a Lecturer/Research Fellow at Curtin University, Australia. His current research focuses on radio transients on various timescales including Fast Radio Bursts (FRBs), pulsars, Long Period radio Transients (LPTs), and Gamma-ray Bursts radio afterglow. He is the lead commissioner and observer of the ASKAP-CRACO system. He is a member of the Commensal Real-time ASKAP Fast Transients project, and ASKAP Variable And Slow Transients project. He received his PhD from the University of Sydney in 2023, and obtained his undergraduate degree from Nanjing University in 2019. 摘要:
Short duration radio transients are often associated with the energetic events in the Universe. The discovery of more such transients will help us understand the critical information for these events, such as the progenitors and key physical parameters of the event. In this talk, I will present the recent results from the ASKAP-CRAFT collaboration, especially results made using a new backend we commissioned on ASKAP, CRAFT Coherent upgrade (CRACO). which enables us to record the correlated visibilities with tens of millisecond time resolution. This upgrade is helping us probe an hitherto unexplored part of the transient parameter space with a large field of view survey imaging telescope like ASKAP. We have so far discovered 42 new fast radio bursts (FRBs), 40 new pulsars/rotating radio transients, and 2 new long period transients. The discovery of these sources is hinting at the existence of a larger population of sources that was not previously known to exist. I will also discuss the future plan for ASKAP and other fast transient instruments in Australia.
